Psalm 31:2 Be Thou to me a rock of strength . . .
I’m having such fun discovering all the references to God as my Rock. How encouraging to observe this name repeated so often. I noticed for the first time that David uses the same phrasing in Psalm 31 and in Psalm 71. He prays, “Be Thou to me a rock . . .” I’ve found myself whispering this prayer to the Father throughout the day. The more aware I am of His presence as a rock in my life, the more peace and confidence I experience. In Psalm 71 He is a rock of habitation to which I may continually come. In Psalm 31 He is a rock of strength. My next search will be to scour the Scriptures to see if He is described as a rock of anything else, because I want to know Him that way too!
This week especially I’m standing on Him as my rock of strength for a week-long writing assignment. Out of town, away from my family and wanting to make every precious moment count, you can’t imagine the obstacles that have threatened progress! Still He has been and continues to be a rock of strength.
May He be your strength as well.
