Descriptions of satan in the Bible might sound somewhat intimidating. That is, until you notice one, little word: like.
1 Peter 5:8 warns, “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”
Did you catch it? The devil is like a roaring lion, but Jesus is the Lion of Judah.
“. . . and one of the elders said to me, “Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has overcome . . . (Revelation 5:5).”
2 Corinthians 11:14 reveals that satan disguises himself as an angel of light. The enemy wears a light disguise to hide the truth. Oh but Jesus, He is the Light of the world! (John 8:12)
The evil one is otherwise known as the prince of the power of the air. He parades as the prince of darkness. Jesus, however, is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords!
“I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High (Isaiah 14:14).” So he did. He is like. He’s a counterfeit – the biggest wanna be. And all the while the Great I AM remains unchanged. Glory to God in the highest- our One true God!
