Kenai Christian Church holds their annual retreat at the SOLID ROCK Bible Camp in Soldotna, Alaska! How cool is that? This entire year I’m focused on getting to know God as my rock. “Be Thou to me a Rock of habitation to which I may continually come (Psalm 71:3).” The retreat center sits nestled among towering pines and yellowing birch trees overlooking a quiet lake silhouetted by distant mountains. It was all that and then some. B-utiful! (Look for more Alaska nature and wildlife pictures in future posts.)
15 different churches from all over Alaska were represented for the three-day conference that allowed us to focus on seeking God’s face, glory, call and promise in four main sessions. Worship, led by a team of sisters and sisters-in-law from the Anchorage Church, lifted the roof off the A-frame gathering room as we joined in hymns and choruses while peering through the wall of windows into the vastness of God’s amazing creation.
An energetic Kenai Christian Church Women’s Ministry Team organized the entire retreat weekend. These were some spunky, God-seeking sisters! On banquet night they dressed the part as we explored seeking for God’s treasure pirate-style.
My favorite moments with this team, however, were the 15 minutes prior to each session when we gathered in a basement room for prayer. Ordinary women crying out to our Extraordinary God, and He was faithful.
Valerie and I thank each of you for your prayers. There are women in far away Alaska who are forever changed because you prayed!

What great pictures. After 38 years in Alaska. I met my wonderful husband and I left my home, church(Kenai Christian),family and friends. I don’t regret it. I do miss Alaska, church, family and friends. Wish I could of been there with you all. Someday, the Lord willing I will join you again for another retreat…I am starting my first group bible study at our R.V. campground in MI. It will be a small group(three so far) We will be doing the God Seeker Study. I know the Lord will bless us. Is this study good for such a small group?
