OK, sometimes you just don’t know how to do this crazy walk. It’s truly moment by moment, day by day. Daily bread is God’s good provision! I can tell you this, the power of prayer is truly supernatural. So many times already on this journey I (and we) have seen God move immediately to encourage or empower through your prayers. So we all just want to say thank you again and again.
Rough week on the tummy. Thanking God for what stayed in and for relief from the headache.
Starting the last week of radiation tomorrow and the first day of Tarceva – the anti-chemo drug that will target bad cells. Do you know how our Dr. described cancer cells: cells that deceive the body. Now who does that sound like? Placing it all the hands of the Great Physician! He is in charge of all treatment.
A friend encouraged us today with Psalm 5, reminding us to bring our requests to the Lord in the morning and then wait expectantly. Expect. That’s the word. We know who our God is. We know His nature, His character. How could we do any less than expect His mighty work?
As I pray for you who are praying and fasting, I know God is at work in you and through you. I also continue to pray that God will speak to His body on our behalf. It is so encouraging to hear from some of you who are fasting for the very first time. Others who have been directed to specific Scripture passages or hymns and songs. Even one who had a dream but never dreams. God is so creative in how He speaks and directs each of us. He is using each of you, every prayer, every card, every post to put courage into this family. We have never been more thankful for the body of Christ. Thank you for loving Him and loving us so well.
Know that we stand on your prayers and we believe God is listening! We keep asking right alongside you all.

We love you and continue to pray for you many times throughout each day.

May God continue to heal you, guide you and give you rest at night. Your blog is an inspiration to me to read the updates from you, Kurt and your daughters! What an example you all are to your friends and church family sharing scripture and stories of how your applying them to your daily life. The Daniel diet….and how it helped, the popsicles made from Silk, such a loving little family that stays in the word and lives it. I read some of the comments and I feel the Spirit of the Lord in the love everyone has for you. I must say your blog has given me peace tonight that I haven’ t felt for a long time. Love and continued prayers for God to continue to heal you and guide you, allowing you to sleep at night with no pain. Thank God for you and your family.

Kristen and Kurt and family… Reading your post caused my thoughts to go directly to the words of this song… ” there is Strength in the name of The Lord, there’s us Power in the name of The Lord, there is Hope in the name of The Lord, Blessed is he who comes in the name of The Lord ” ! We are indeed praying with expectancy and love because of Christ!

God bless you and your family. You are an inspiration to so many. I was in one of your Bible Study classes at Southeast. Some of the things I learned will stay with me forever and I’ve been around for almost 78 years now. You are in my prayers each day.

“SAUDER FAMILY”,
God continues to bless my life, my family and friend’s lives from knowing each of you and your “Christ Like” examples. Paul told Timothy…I Timothy 4:16 “Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourselves and for hearers.”
On behalf of my family and friends (your “hearers”) Thank you for your “Christ Like” examples and your love for Jesus.
Knowing the “SAUDER FAMILY” continues to encourage my Faith and my desire to each day want to know Christ and the power of the resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings.
I Peter 2:24
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness: by his wounds you have been healed.
God continues to be patient with me and I believe one of the things he is teaching me is to be patient. (Love is patient)
James 5:7-11
Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!
Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 2 Corinthians 1:3
WE LOVE THE “SAUDER FAMILY”,

George and Cassie, all of your encouragement is just so good. I love this quote. Your daily card means more than you can ever know. Just to be reminded of your love and prayers each day is like a great, big hug. And I love George and Cassie hugs! Thanking God for you two.

Kristen and Kurt and family,
You continue to be a blessing to those who are in prayer/fasting for you. Funny, I usually think it is the other way around. Tonia shared the expectant verse with us when she got home–we watched the boys. The Lord is doing expectantly, exceeding, great things for us moment by moment but we often miss them.
Today, this moment is really all any of us have. Thank you for using your mements today so well. You inspire many. Love, Sandy
Kristen Sauder says
Thank you, Sandy, for watching the boys. It was SO good to see Tonia and Eric. Felt like an Acts 2 prayer gathering. So encouraging. I walked a mile with Kurt afterwards – the best strength I had all day. The power of prayer, faith-filled prayer. Loved the card from your DC group. Please thank them all for me for praying. Love you!

Kristen,
Still praying & fasting. As I began my two hours on the prayerline today, I began praying over Psalm 91. There are sooo many hurting at our church but you were coming to mind even from the first verse. I know you are spending much time in “the secret place”. And by the 3rd verse I had replaced the term “deadly pestilence” with the word cancer. But it was the last verses 14-16 that your name was really quickened in my spirit; I even put in your name as I prayed: “Because Kristen loves me, says the Lord, I will rescue her; I will protect her, for she acknowledges my name. She will call upon me and I will answer her. I will be with her in trouble. I will deliver her and honor her. With long life will I satisfy her and show her my salvation.”
His Name is Jehovah Rapha, the Lord that Healeth Thee. He changes not. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. As he walked on the earth, He was very WILLING to heal all that came to Him. He loves you with an everlasting love. Fight the good fight of faith. It is a difficult fight in the face of circumstances that scream the opposite of faith in the Word of God. FAITH is SUBSTANCE but it is unseen. Be strong and courageous, do not fear. He is YOUR STRENGTH! We continue to pray for your family’s wisdom, an atmosphere of PEACE and for more Revelation of that NAME that is above EVERY NAME! NOTHING, no NOTHING is impossible with God. All things are POSSIBLE! All glory to His NAME!
with much love, grace & peace,
Jim & Donna

Donna, I love your reminders. Thank you for each of them. Daily waiting with expectation! I so appreciate the way you are praying. We are making a great big list of all the ways we’ve seen God be God in our family through the years and we’re reading aloud all the powerful stories that Scripture is loaded with that remind us Who God is and how He works – great for building faith. The truth that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever is especially meaningful to me. Thanks for all the prayer and encouragement. I can’t thank you enough for praying!

Sauder family our God is a great big God. Nothing, not one thing passes through His mighty hand without Him allowing it. We don’t understand it but we know that in all things He will work it out for His good!! This will bring God glory and many, many lives will be won to The Lord through this! The song Chris Tomlin sings “Whom shall I fear” is one that eveytime I hear it I think about you guys. The words sound like they come right from the pages of scripture.
We love you guys!!

Hi Kristen,
I had a great time hanging out with your beautiful girls last week. I hope you approved of all the brow shaping that went on:)
Just wanted to share a few thoughts with you tonight.
God has asked me to go “moment to moment” with Him on my fast this year and it really has been a crazy walk with many twists and turns. He is teaching me to walk with the Holy Spirit and be solely dependent upon Him. I appreciated your honesty about this “crazy walk”….
As I was reading a devotional this morning I was guided to Deuteronomy 33:27 “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms, He will drive out your enemy before you, saying, “Destroy him.”
I read it several times during the day and in between clients. As I was doing so, God reminded me that last week during the fast the focus was on breakthroughs (2 Samuel 5:20), and that He has already gone out against my enemies before me.
This week the focus is on strength and endurance, as we stand strong in our faith, God destroys the enemy (Deuteronomy 33:27)
As I enter into the third week of the fast where the focus is on thanksgiving I was lead to this verse tonight!
1 Peter 6-7
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith- of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire- may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.”
Your faith in Christ is great and His hand of healing is all over you and your family! Continue to rejoice in His love, God bless!!!

Kristen, I just want you to know that we’ve been praying for you here in Central Asia since we first heard about your battle with cancer. I haven’t checked your blog for a while and was just thinking about you today. I came home and someone had posted a link up on Facebook. I love how social media allows us to keep updated so we know how to lift up you and your family. You and Kurt have had an amazing ministry through the years, and yes, we know who this battle is against. Your faith is so encouraging. Much love and prayers!

I’m praying for you and the Sauder family! I want to share a passage that I leaned on daily during a time when our youngest daughter’s health seemed uncertain – God gave me happiness, something to look forward to, something I should expect through this song:
“I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord.” Psalm 40:1-3
