I love to go back and read my old journal entries to see how God has worked and moved in the past. Just this weekend I glanced back and started to read my journal entries from last Labor Day weekend 2013. And I came across this note: “Thank you Father for such a godly man to be my husband. You knew then as you know now what is best for me. Carry his burdens and give him your favor as we take one day at a time!”
This was a note that Kristen wrote in my journal a year ago this weekend. I totally forgot that she wrote that- to The Lord and for me. It was such a joy to read and brought me great encouragement, a big smile and also some tears.
Can I urge you to write a short letter to someone in your life who could use a word of hope and strength?
Notes we write to others can be such a rich source of encouragement and hope. The words that we put down on paper not only bless our family and friends here and now but even for years to come even after we are gone.
I’m so glad for all the notes and cards that Kristen has left for our family. They will always be a treasure!

How very, very true! Notes my sister wrote me before she passed have just meant so much more every time I read them, and continue to speak to my heart.
I always love reading your posts on “Further Still” and I continue to pray for the Sauder family daily. You are all so dear to me. Give my love to all.

Thanks for that story Kurt. It was just like Kristen to encourage you when she was going through so much. I like your idea of encouraging others, I should do that more often. I am going to start right now, while I’m on this trip. Thanks again!

Kurt, how true, those notes of thoughts and concerns and prayers mean so very much. Greatly appreciated you coming by Friday. Means so much knowing brothers and sisters in Christ are offering prayers in my behalf. May God richly bless you and the children as you continue in His service, ministering to so many. Thanks again so very much! jan
