It hardly seems like a month has passed since our time in Haiti. Being back in the States we have resumed our crammed calendars and hectically paced lives. While in Haiti, it was such a joy to put away cellphones, laptops and iPads to serve and love on the missionary families and the Haitians on the Global Outreach Ministries compound. I so miss hours filled with soccer and basketball with the Haitian kids; teaching them to hold up their “three goggles” whenever they made a three point shot.
Our prayer and one of our main goals as a team was to bless, love on, and be a breath of fresh air to the mission team. On the last night of our stay, the missionaries and their families gathered around our team and told us that we had done just that. They said that we had been a huge encouragement and a great support in just a short 5 days. One of the biggest blessings to our family was to hear them thank us for sharing mom’s life with them by carrying on her legacy of love towards them. It amazes me that even though we would never have chosen mom’s passing, the Lord continues to use her life to bring others closer to him.
We had so many highlights and enjoyments from this trip, and wish we were still down there for good! I know many of you wish you could have gone to see what the Lord is doing in Haiti, however since we couldn’t take along everyone we would love to tell you stories of the way the Lord used your prayer and financial support from afar. This Sunday, the 22nd,we will be having a “Haiti 2015 Open House”, and we hope that you will come out to hear all about it! It’s from 4-6pm, in the Fireside Room, at Southeast Christian Church Blankenbaker Campus. If you really wanted to support our trip before we left, and somehow were unable to, this open house will be a great opportunity for you to either support a child in Haiti or one of the elderly in the food program on the compound. Thank you so much for all of the prayer and support you gave us in order to make this trip happen; we hope to see you Sunday!
Love, Drew
