Last month when I was in Ghana, it happened to be August 3rd, Kristen’s birthday. When I was on my way home I got a text from the kids with a picture. They said they were at Shalimar Indian restaurant celebrating Mom at one of her favorite restaurants.
They said, “Miss you, celebrating Mom at Shalimar. Wish you could be here! Love you 🙂 P.S. Wanna pay for our lunch?”
I laughed out loud and thought, “Isn’t that kids? They go out for lunch and they want me to buy!” Before I could respond I received another text from them. “Actually, never mind. Ellie just reminded us that Ivy has Mom’s credit card anyways…so she’ll pay for it! HAHAHA”
Ivy has been using Kristen’s credit card in case I needed her to pick something up for me or for the family. I cracked up after that text! We all laughed and were reminded of Mom’s generosity. Today, she is still giving, even when she’s not here.
Just today I sent a care package to Drew at college and when I jotted him a note on a card the girls had already signed, I saw Kristen’s initials on the back of the card and I could tell that it was her handwriting.
The girls had found an old handmade card that she stamped awhile back. So Drew will receive a care package from his family with a note that was even made by Mom! What a gift. What a blessing. As we still deeply miss her- her life and legacy continues. She’s still involved in our lives everyday- notecards and buying lunch!
I pray you are leaving a legacy today.
Blessings, Kurt

Despite her “special needs” & not being able to speak she shined brightly w/the love of Jesus. Oh how she loved HIM!! & oh how HE loved her as he took her into HIS arms 3 yrs. ago today! We miss her desparately but we are so happy for her & her home today. Prayerfully, we will share & pass on her legacy! To God be the Glory❤️

To the Sauder family;
I am reminded that a pebble tossed into a calm lake generates ripples that multiply and grow the further out from where it had landed. The picture of you all are just that, the growing ripples of your mothers love now being shared with the world. Victory is at hand “For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death” Corth 15: 25-26.
To God be the Glory! My the peace of Christ Reign down!
