Five years ago today, Kristen went home to be with Jesus, after a 13-month battle with non-smokers lung cancer. Paul is very clear: to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. And in Philippians, he writes that to live is Christ and to die is gain. To depart from this life is better by far, but to leave this sin-stained world and be with Christ is the greatest gain imaginable.
So many of you have prayed for me and my family, encouraging us in so many ways– and we just say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are truly grateful for the body of Christ– God‘s precious family!
People ask, “Do I miss Kristen”? Yes, I miss her and I am truly grateful for the 22 years that we were married. But I am overjoyed with God’s wonderful gift to me in Nancy; we’ve been married for two years now. I feel like I’m batting 1000%, since I’m two for two at the plate! 🙂
As we remember Kristen on this day– January 22, five years ago– she would urge all of us to make sure that we are seeking first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. She would also exhort all of us to number our days, so that we may live a life of wisdom and effectiveness for the glory of Jesus Christ. May this be our goal– to go further still!
Love and blessings,
Kurt
