Every December I start listening intently for a clear focus to really zero in on in the coming year. It’s kind of a theme that the Lord will use to refine me as I meditate upon it and bring my life into submission to it in entirely new ways. By memorizing and daily renewing my mind to this particular truth for 365 days, it becomes ingrained in my soul. This practice has been deeply meaningful in my intimate walk with the Father.
This year the verse is Psalm 71:3, “Be Thou to me a rock of habitation, to which I may continually come . . . ”
I’m learning so much already. Consider the ways the Lord is our rock and what that means for our lives day by day:
He is our firm place to stand.
A platform of proclamation.
Water from the rock provision.
Hiding place in the cleft of the rock.
Immovable, unshakable – no matter what happens around me.
Strength, fortress.
A vantage point from which to view His glory.
Honey from the rock sweetness.
Higher ground.
All this and so much more! Just to know I can come to this Rock continually. That’s what it says, “. . . to which I may continually come.” My constant, moment by moment provision all through 2011 and beyond.
I’ll keep you posted as I come to know Him as my Rock this year.
Do you have a theme verse for the year? How is He revealing more of Himself to you as you seek Him faithfully with all your heart?
