Dear Further Still family and friends,
With these craziest of times and while things are dramatically changing almost hourly, I want to offer my support and assistance. Please feel free to call me at 502-744-0811 if you need anything. It doesn’t need to be about pastoral ministry. If you need help getting groceries, medicine or other supplies, I would glad to help and if I can’t, there are many volunteers who are ready to step up and help. Maybe you need some encouragement or just someone to pray with you especially in these stressful times, I want to offer help anyway I can.
My thoughts and prayers are extended to our senior citizens, doctors, and medical professionals, caregivers and first responders all working on the front lines in our hospitals/care centers to protect and treat patients. We’re also seeing our local businesses struggling as they modify how they operate during this difficult time. Schools are closed and parents with young children are struggling to make alternate arrangements for their children so they can go to work. My goals are to make a difference in how our friends and neighbors are managing through these difficult times. Now is the time to serve and to pray.
I am trying to look at this craziness as a time for the church to really shine with the love, peace and hope of Christ and not be fearful and anxious. I know that it will be much harder for some folks if they don’t have a job or savings and nothing in sight as far as income. But that’s where the church can be the church and reach out in powerful ways. How can we be wise and discerning and yet proactive to meet needs and love people well? That’s where I’m trying to help folks view this- locally, nationally and internationally. This is not our home! We are citizens of heaven!!!
This is the focus of the New Testament church.
The Covid-19 crisis is causing us to pause and reorder. It also comes right at Lent time, an awesome time to pause, rest and reorder our priorities. Could it be that God wants us to experience a new rhythm of life and He wants to use this time to get our attention? May we listen to His still small voice.
Friends, let us live boldly with great courage and yet with Godly wisdom!
Let us let our light shine for the glory of Jesus and for His kingdom!
When I shut up the heavens so that there is no more rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among the people, if my people, who are called by my name (that is us), will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will turn from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
Love and Blessings,
Kurt
